According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Nicaragua, along with Haiti and Venezuela, are the three countries where the majority of citizens experience the greatest hunger in Latin America.
In recent years, the level of unemployment in Nicaragua has increased, which is why food security indices have fallen. Likewise, the National Institute of Development Information has shown that month after month the prices of the food increases considerable while the income of families is reduced.
